Inspiration, "Make it Sweet" and My Very Own Quote!

I put this inspiration frame together a couple years ago and haven't changed it around too much because I just love it.  When I glance over, I smile.  There are real vintage photographs of ladies with their little white dogs, best friends, my grandmother leaning against a tree and a couple Paris scenes.  A tiny Bichon Frise banner that I made a few years ago hangs on silk ribbon and there are a couple little trinkets from friends.  I've seen some amazing boards on Pinterest... makes me want to put together another one someday.

Here is Phoebe Genevieve's sweet little area where she has her breakfast and dinner every day.  I've had the chien sign for probably about 13 years as it's been passed down through my other two beloved dogs.  I think Phoebe knows that this is extra sweet and special just for her.

And lastly, I've been saying this for years and years and my dear friends who know me well have heard it dozens of times, especially the ones that might feel left out when they aren't invited to something.  This is my way of saying, chin up Buttercup... it's okay.  There will be another party.  Or like my Mama has always said, "Make your own party" or "Take your own party with you."

What are you working on today?  What's your inspiration?

Thanks for stopping by!

Glitterfest this Saturday, Feb 28th and More to See!

Pretty little pincushions with something extra

We all need Paris-themed items in our lives don't we?  I know I do.  Here is a little collection of pincushions I handmade with my beloved, Paris, France in mind for Glitterfest.

... And more petite collage on canvases featuring one of my mermaid girls.  REAL crystals have been incorporated at the bottom of the piece.

I also have an event coming up that I'm very excited about.  It's International Women's Day and this particular event is specifically for Russian women.  I created these sweet little Matryoshka doll pendant necklaces with them in mind.  Or anyone really... I think they are rather charming.

I just had to share this great quote! This was painted on the bathroom wall at a fun Mexican place in Huntington Beach, CA called Fred's.  I just loved it.  The bathroom was so pretty and completely hot-pink with cherubs painted on the ceiling.

And these characters were strategically placed by their hostess desk.  Just loved them!

Happy Monday!

Glitterfest is One Week Away!

I'm really looking forward to participating in Glitterfest in Anaheim, CA! Please come out to see an incredible group of artists displaying and selling their mixed media art!

Here are some whimsical mixed media collaged painting on canvas that I will have at my table.  They range from the tiniest being 4x4 to 8x8.  An easy commitment to a little piece of art!

I will have a lot of my custom pieces of jewelry at the event as well.  This piece was designed with myself in mind.  I incorporated a teeny tiny diminutive pin that belonged to my grandmother so it's staying around my neck.  Sometimes you just can't part with certain pieces.

Hope you're having a beautiful weekend.  We are supposed to get rain tomorrow and I couldn't be happier!

How to Obtain GREAT Action Shots of Your Pets!

Here is a fun way to get those adorable action shot!

Turn on your phone's camera to video. Have your dog wait in an area and walk away, preferable around the corner.  Call your pup in an excited voice (what other voice would their be?) and they will come running.  Record/time lapse them all the way running up to you.

Watch the video back in slow motion and snap screen shots of the cute areas you'd like to capture and voila!  You will get some really sweet and entertaining pictures.

The sun really makes her eyes look light and golden.  So pretty how that happens sometimes.

Here we are at Santa Monica Beach last week when it was in the high 80's.  Yes, high 80's in Feb.

I took Phoebe with me to my last art event in Long Beach and she was the Belle of the ball!  She was so good for those 5+ hours and enjoyed all the people petting her, holding her, taking her picture.  She's a real trooper!

Hope you're all having a lovely month of February.

Happy 2015!

2014 was an amazing year for me! Growing, learning, trying new things... wearing so many different hats! A year I will remember forever.  A real year of "freedom" for me as I dove into so many different projects yet always went back to what I love, which is mixed media collage.  Playing with paper is always a favorite and something I return to again and again.

I had the great pleasure of teaching some really cool classes with super talented students this past year.  I look forward to more in 2015!

I've been brainstorming on my next project to teach and am so excited about the flowing ideas coming at me left and right!

I also launched my jewelry business on-line, which has been a lot of fun.  I learned so much and one of things that I have found that works best for me is selling IN PERSON vs. ON-LINE.  So for the time being I have placed my online shop on hold and will focus on live events (I love them much more anyway). I love meeting people, especially ones who adore jewelry like I do and want to know about the story behind my unique pieces.  So email me or check my Etsy shop for exclusive pieces throughout the coming year.

We also celebrated Phoebe's birthday and 4th year of being rescued and adored by her mama (me!)!  She's the sweetest, most affectionate and joyful little treasure I could have ever dreamed of.  She makes my life pretty awesome!

Sending all of you big, warm wishes wish a prosperous, loving, happy and healthy... peaceful... creative New Year!  Do what you love! Enjoy life to the fullest!

Thanks to all of you who still visit me.  It means a lot!

Mixed Media Painting and Collage Taught at Make Art in LA!

Yesterday was the most outstanding and fun-filled day at Make Art in LA.  I taught my Little BIG Book of Dreams workshop to the most wonderful group of women.

Here is the book along with some of the examples I demonstrated.

Each student rolled up their sleeves, really dove in and made beautiful miniature pieces of art.  It's always so exciting to me to see how each and every piece is so different from the next student's work.  I love that.

Here we all are at the end of the class.

A snap of the cool space, which is filled with gorgeous artwork.

Happy sisters!

Creative girls!

There was an awesome singer in this bunch! What a lovely group of ladies.

I walked around and snapped at the end when everyone was starting to pack up.  I wish I would have taken more photos throughout but the time flew by and we were all so involved in the project that I only remembered at the end of the class.

All so pretty!

Each brought their own unique style.

Sweet little details make these so great.

I will be teaching again next year so please check back if you're interested!

Have a fantastic day and thanks for dropping by!
